“Meet Saravanan Kittappa: The Culinary Mastermind Behind Chennai Express”
Saravanan Kittappa – Owner and Head Chef at Chennai Express, Edmonton
Saravanan Kittappa, born in 1982 in Rajapalayam, Tamil Nadu, has established himself as a leading expert in South Indian cuisine. After obtaining his hotel management degree in Madurai in 2000, Saravanan embarked on a remarkable culinary journey, refining his skills in some of the most prestigious kitchens across India and beyond.
His career began at The Residency Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram, followed by a year at The Residency in Chennai. Saravanan then honed his craft during an 8-year tenure at the renowned Taj Coromandel in Chennai, where he mastered high-end South Indian cooking.

In 2011, Saravanan moved to Canada, where he took on key roles in managing and operating top South Indian restaurants in Toronto and Calgary. With over 20 years of experience, he is celebrated for his dedication to authentic flavors and innovative dishes, earning him a distinguished reputation in the culinary world.
Key Achievements:
Conceptualized and launched the highly acclaimed “Kara Saram” restaurant in India.
Led the opening team of the Royal View Multi-Cuisine Restaurant in Dubai as Executive Chef, ensuring its success from the start.
Currently, as the owner and Head Chef at Chennai Express in Edmonton, Saravanan brings his extensive experience and passion for South Indian cuisine to every dish. His commitment to culinary excellence ensures that every meal at Chennai Express offers an authentic and memorable taste of South India.
